EDIT: SR BACK UP

UPDATE (07/02/2013 1700 UTC): Forgot to mention another change that's coming with this update. Now that MtGox is losing market share, we'll be pulling from multiple markets to get the "official" exchange rate for pricing and hedging. It will also be more closely weighted to the preset instead of equally weighting all prices over the past 24-hours. This part is a bit of an experiment and we may revert back if there are any problems with it.

—–BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE—– Hash: SHA1

This coming Tuesday we'll be rolling out some changes that should be welcome to our members who are used to using currencies other than the US Dollar. Support for 34 new fiat currencies plus gold and silver will be added. You will be able to view the prices in the market along with your account balance in these currencies, and vendors will be able to peg their prices to these currencies as well.

So for example, if you live in Australia and view prices in the Aussie Dollar, and you shop with domestic suppliers who peg their prices to the Aussie Dollar, you will see more or less steady prices across the market even as the exchange rates fluctuate.

As an added bonus, we've added 2 decimal places to Bitcoin prices for a total of 4. This can easily be expanded or contracted as necessary if the Bitcoin exchange rate changes dramatically in the future.

The site will be taken offline around 1900 UTC on July 2nd while the update is deployed and tested. We've done our best to catch any bugs that might crop up, but please message support with any that you find asap when we come back online.

In case it is asked, hedging is completely unaffected by this. The only options are still Bitcoins and US Dollars.

I’m the #1 vendor on Atlantis, and I want to offer r/SilkRoad a special deal to help fund my Silk Road vendor fee

Comments Off

So my initial goal was to sign up as a vendor on Silk Road, but due to a certain cash to bitcoin company majorly screwing up my order I ended up losing almost $ 1k and not having enough coin to start vending on The Road.

I ended up starting a vendors account on Atlantis and have quickly become the #1 vendor there. I have 100% delivery rate and my packages arrive in 2-4 business days.

I really want to get on Silk Road, but all my profits have gone straight to rent, bills and restocking. So I want to offer a special deal to /r/SilkRoad users, where all the profits will go to my SilkRoad vendor account fee. I am offering a home made strain called Snow White Kush for $ 45 an 1/8th (I also have ounces for $ 250, QP's for $ 850, and HP for $ 1650). I'm not selling 1/8ths of this strain except through this special, I just wanted to make sure people could try it in smaller quantities if they wanted to. I have created a stealth listing that can only be accessed through the link at the bottom.

So if you've wanted to try out Atlantis or just want to help me get a vendors account on Silk Road here's your chance. I plan on offering budget weed to AAA+ to bulk. Here's the link.

Snow White Kush, 1/8th, $ 45: http://atlantisrky4es5q.onion/item/view/0e754ea55d

My full menu can be found on my vendor profile page: http://atlantisrky4es5q.onion/account/view/adventure_time

I also just posted it on the Atlantis subreddit for easier viewing: /r/atlantis/comments/1hex4x/new_menu_new_strains_lsd_returns_new_aaa_strains/

I’m starting a BitInstant Proxy service

Comments Off

BitInstant not working for you? Don't want to hand over your personal info? No worries. I'll let you use my account instead.

Here's how it would work:

  • You will contact me. Say you want $ 100 in bitcoins.
  • I will tell you that it will cost you $ 100 plus my flat fee of $ 20.
  • You will agree and give me your public key and the address to send the bitcoins to.
  • I will make a BitInstant transaction of $ 120 directed to my Mt. Gox account.
  • I will give you the number to write on the MoneyGram form.
  • I will encrypt my last name to you also for the MoneyGram form.
  • You will fill out the money gram form using whatever info you like, but with my last name (The last name must match my BitInstant account) and the transaction number.
  • You will pay at your local Walmart. (CVS checks ID apparently)
  • I will receive your funds and purchase $ 100 of bitcoins and send them to the address you specified.

Deal done.

IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF STEPS!! Looks like it, but you can have your coins within an hour if I'm online. Worst case, the same day.

HOW DO I KNOW YOU WON'T RUN OFF WITH MY MONEY?? Trust me, I won't. That's why I charge a fee. That's my incentive. If I wanted to scam you, I'd say I'd do it for free and then keep all your money. Then you'd start a thread about how I scammed you and nobody would use my service anymore. I only make money by doing legit transactions. When you think about it, I'm only holding your money for literally a few minutes and that's all. You don't give me any money until your transaction at Walmart goes through. And as soon I get the money, I buy and send the bitcoins to your address. Takes all of 3 minutes.

THIS LOOKS REALLY SKETCHY!! I know and completely understand. I have no reputation. I see this as a risk/reward kind of scenario. I'll admit it's risky. But the reward is great. What if you need to make a SR order ASAP and you need your coins RIGHT NOW? No problem, I can do that for you. I'm online pretty much all the time between 16:00-23:00 EST. I can get you your coins very very quickly.

WHY SHOULD I EVEN USE YOUR SERVICE?? We all know BitInstant has been pretty buggy lately. Sometimes it won't even let you use their service at all. Or maybe you're paranoid about your first SR order and you don't want want to give out your personal info to anyone. Maybe you need your coins super fast. Maybe you don't understand Bitcoin very well and want someone else to take care of that for you.

Ask any questions about my service that you may have. I want this to work for you as well as for me.

As a bonus, I'll do my first two transactions with no fee just to build credibility.

[Canada] Some newb questions as I get closer to making my first SR purchase

Comments Off

So I opened a PO box with Canada Post as it was really my only option and I think it will be fine as I only plan on ordering small quantities for personal use. I had to provide ID when signing up for the mailbox but the girl spelled my name slightly wrong. Will this effect anything?

This is my first time using a PO box and I want to order some legal items first but I am unsure of how I should even format my PO box. For example, I want to add my PO box as an address in Paypal and I've tried Googling it and can't find it. My PO box consists of the post office's street address, my PO box number and the post office station name. So in Paypal, I added an address in a single line with the following format: <Post Office street address> PO Box <My PO box number> <Post office station name>

Is this OK? Anything unnecessary?

Also, I know there are a lot of bitcoin posts but I'm having trouble acquiring bitcoins as well and will probably go through the process of getting verified on a website like cavirtex by providing a lot of ID. I see a lot of people wanting to get bitcoins anonymously. Is there a good reason for this? Should I be wary of providing ID to get verified, buying bitcoins and then using them on SR?

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, should I provide my real name or fake name to the vendor when making a purchase?

BST closed for trading until Monday July 1st. All paid trades will be fulfilled

Comments Off

BST's bitcoin sources can't fill demand so BST will be offline until Monday July 1st so they can restructure some things. All transactions that are open now will be completed. Fees, which were very low, are going to increase. Check their site for additional info.

Slow bitcoin transfer?

Comments Off

So I bought around half a bitcoin through virwox yesterday, and tried to send it to my SR account. It has been 14 hours since this happened, and there are still no bitcoins in my SR account. Should I be worried? From what I have read, the transaction should never take that long. I copy/pasted the exact address that SR gave me into virwox.
